2008 Show Report

Postby Winch on Sun Oct 19, 2008 3:24 pm

Hi Guys,
sorry I've not been able to put this up before now been rather busy with one thing and another.

Last Sundays Show was a great success building on the previous success of the last 2 years. The later opening hours met with universal approval of those who attended the shows and some still managed to be little tardy arriving! :o

The room was full and we would have struggled to fit in another trader if one had turned up on spec! :D Attendance figures were a down on last year but I think that can be laid firmly at the door of the present economic climate. Certainly nothing to do with the work put in by my fellow organiser locally or by the various traders sending out flyers with their ebay sales some who weren't even attending the show!
SO THANKS FOR ALL THE HARD WORK GUYS!

Next another big thanks to Paul & Heather of Monster Models and Mark & Gill of One6Collectables (formerly Battlefield Collectables) for donating the prizes for the Model Competition.
THANKS GUYS!

Speaking of the Model Competition the number of entries was down a little in the Vehicles and Dioramas categories but the standard was as high as ever. The winning entries are pictured below along with pictures of the winners receiving their winners certificates from some ugly bloke in a Club Polo Shirt! :?

Best Figure Category Winner - Gordon Smith

Best Diorama Category Winner - John Hutchinson

Best Vehicle Category Winner - Lee Sellars

As always the UK Tank Club put on a good display of Tanks as well as other vehicles and figures not to mention causing mayhem with their driving demonstrations! ;)

Several new traders joined the happy band and from all reports everyone had a good day despite the reduced attendance figures!

And to cap it all off we raised £87 for the Ty Hafan Welsh Childrens Hospice which Andy and myself rounded up to £100. :D

Based on the overall success and the feedback from the dealers and attendees Andy and myself will be holding the show again next year so we hope to see you all there! ;)
Regards

Failure is not due to a lack of knowledge, lack of power, nor the lack of strength, but a lack of will.

Press on, and you will prevail.
