North Wales MVT Show June 20th & 21st

Postby Winch on Fri Apr 03, 2009 10:16 pm

Hi Gang,
we have been invited along to this event and I have also been asked to spread the word with other like minded people like the UKTC I shall be posting there as soon as I finish here. The organisers want to strengthen the non 1:1 vehcile side of the show hence the invitation!

I've already mentioned this to a few people who fancy coming along and making a weekend of it including WelshAndy and his MP Re-Enactor Group and Barry Pippen and I believe that Wild Bill will be In Country and hopefully coming to play too! :D

The more the merrier ,Bar on Sat night , Free camping for exhibitors , children welcome ,good fun . no trafic on site , kids able to roam freely and safely. 1/6th members all welcome, plenty of room to put mock battles and areas can be sectioned off specialy , thus creating more awarness of the clubs .

There is a Entry Form available for download here although I think thats mainly for 1:1 vehicle entries. You can check out their website as a whole at http://northwalesmvt.co.uk/

If anyone is interested in coming along give me a shout would make a great summer get together with no one having to drive so a few beers would be in order and maybe a barbecue! :P
Regards

Great shame mate as I'll be bringing along some of my SOG gear if I can make it... Ive just finished a 1:1 "Hatchet Force" sawn off shottie...

Image

In the middle of breaking in a pair of 68 dated jungle boots... arrrgghhh!!!

Possibly another one or two folk from Modern Forces too if I can persuade them. It would be a great dress rehearsal for W&P. Are any more of your Nam group going to be there?

Do we need to register?

Bill

hi Bill,

Yeah you'd need to register. I'll dig out the details. My Nam group is no longer my Nam group. I took a backseat for a year and they rebranded, expanded, and moved on...so I'm not a part of it anymore. I have started to build my own impression for Mike Force, from Lang Vei...but not for group, just for when attending show like W&P to walk around in.

Hey mate,

Check out Modern Forces website...

We could make MACV SOG of you yet if you're currently "unattached"!!!

Just finished my "Hatchet Force" impression...

Any idea where I might pick up a pair of GD ERDL Trousers in LL or LR?

I saw from one of your other posts that you're going to be on hols over here; are you going to any of the shows this summer?

hi Bill,

Nice impression! Trying to think on the ERDLs...I have 2 sets in LS, I'll ask around for you

Thanks for offer on the MACV-SOG, might take you up on that. Got a nice 49 pattern rucksack on its way, got a stabo (repro using original metalwork) and my tigers etc...so could put one together right enough!

Yup..gonna be over in Florida, but might have to delay the trip, as we just found out today my dads battle with cancer is almost over, the macmillan nurses advised it'll only be weeks now

Ahhh crap... sorry to hear that mate.

Lost my dear old Ma to the big C last year; my thoughts go out to you and your family.

Modded 3rd Pattern Ripstops work well for the SOG look; need to respray mine as they've washed out a bit...

STABO for sure though 8-)

Perhaps join me on the C Co CCC "Hatchet Force" with the Tigers!

Any help on the ERDLs greatly appreciated; I found a pair to match the shirt but the guy is after $150 for 'em

thanks man.

Yeah, ERDL in that size can be $$$. I did own 2 pairs of LR, but sold em off last year.

I saw your sprayed ODs...look great! Got any info on the Hatchet Force?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatchet_Force

There's also a fair amount of ref to them in the Osprey "Mike Force" book, along with multiple refs in John Plasters "SOG" and Thom Nicholsons "15 Months in SOG" books...

Osprey "Battle Orders 30 - Mobile Strike Forces in Vietnam 1966-70"

Hatchets were very similar to the Mikes working with indig troops, but more tuned in to the work of the "Studies and Observation Group" ;) Basically teams acting in support of the RT "runners", often getting the RTs out of the sh1t.

They also attracted some controversy as you'll see in the Wiki write up...

Hope this helps!

If you look at the shottie pic you'll see the C Co badge I had made at In Country Patches; Jeff took the design from the Wiki page. I've also got a real "Nam made" version on my 1-0 Party Shirt  If you're at W&P I'll have it with me...
